Many will argue how Jesus cannot possibly be God.
For God is not a man, they say.
In one sense of course, they are absolutely right.
Yet the scriptures clearly inform us, that the Word, who was with God and who was God in the beginning:
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. John 1:1
became flesh and dwelt amongst men:
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. John 1:14
In other words, as a man, Jesus was the Word = God incarnate.
Let me be absolutely clear, for incarnation and reincarnation are 2 entirely different terms with 2 entirely different meanings, and only the former is a Biblical truth.
The doctrine of incarnation is central to the Christian faith, for not only is man a fallen creature, who enters this world born of water (the womb) but is also born subject to death.
Desperately in need of a Saviour, man himself is also an incarnate being.
For it is Written!
“I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.” Psalms 82:6
Confirmed by Jesus himself, who quoting from Psalms 82, said:
“Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?” John 10:34
When taken literally, the scriptures inform us that we all pre-existed as gods and were born into this physical world as the result of a former judgement.
The sentence being, Ye shall fall and die.
For way back in the depths of time, the children of the most High, referred to as ”the gods”, were summoned to attend an ancient heavenly courtroom.
Here, judgement was duly executed by the most Righteous Judge, the most High, the God of gods; and sentence was passed.
Judgement for what exactly, we are not told.
Nevertheless, it would seem that the sins committed by the gods, were severe enough to warrant the death sentence.
It would also seem however, that because the gods are immortal, for the death sentence to be carried out, they first had to become mortal, otherwise known as incarnate beings.
Hence, the gods were ordained to fall like one of the princes, and to die like a man.
I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.
But ye shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes. Psalms 82:6-7
In John 10:30 Jesus claimed that he and the Father are one.
I and my Father are one.
The Jews rightly understood what Jesus was actually saying, but they refused to believe him.
Hence, they set out to stone him for blasphemy:
“The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.” John 10:33
Instead of correcting them or even denying he was making himself God, Jesus quoted directly from Psalms 82.
”Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?” John 10:34
So, what do you do with a statement like that?
Did Jesus mean exactly what he said?
How can men be gods?
Remember, Jesus never took the words of scripture out of context.
And the entire context of Psalm 82 is one of Divine Judgement upon the gods.
Jesus continued his discourse with; John 10:35-36.
If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken; Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?
What Jesus was effectively saying is:
”Why castigate me for claiming to be God incarnate, when your own scriptures declare you are all gods incarnate.”
The gods, who are immortal, were once judged and sentenced to fall, and thus to become mortal men and die.
A ‘religious’ mind may find this hard to process, but there’s a world of difference between religion and Truth.
The Scripture is clear that the congregation wherein God stood, and those upon whom he passed judgement, were not an assembly of mighty humans, magistrates or otherwise, but an assembly of mighty gods.
God standeth in the congregation of the mighty; he judgeth among the gods. Psalms 82:1
But ye shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes. Psalms 82:7
Created in the likeness and the image of God, but made a little lower than the angels, Adam became the first man in this present world, to fall like one of the princes.
Having been murdered by his own brother, Abel was the first in this world, to die like a man.

Like all men since Adam, Jesus too entered this world via the portal of the womb, hence born of water.
Not as a mere god in the flesh, nor as a babe sired by a man, but born of a virgin, as Christ the Lord, the only begotten Son of God, the Word made flesh, or God in the flesh.
The only person throughout all of time and history, who has entered this world via the portal of the womb, who was not born subject to death.
For Jesus-the Word, is God incarnate (in the flesh), the everlasting Father in spirit, and the Holy Ghost.
For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. 1 John 5:7
The beginning and the ending, the Almighty:
I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty. Revelation 1:8
the King of kings and the Lord of lords.
These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them:
for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings:
and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful. Revelation 17:14
Dare I say, that the mercy of God, which endureth forever, extends way back to the very beginning?
Back to the age of the gods, and prior to the creation of Adam?
Back to the aeon recorded in scripture as the world that then was, that existed in the heavens of old, and which was wiped out by deluge, maybe?
And saying, Where is the promise of his coming?
for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:
Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: 2 Peter 3:4-6
In an ancient heavenly courtroom during an age prior to the world of flesh and blood, where there was zero remission for sin?
And almost ALL things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission. Hebrews 9:22
For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. Matthew 26:28
For having made peace with mankind through his shed blood, not only was God in Christ, reconciling the world of mankind (gods in the flesh) unto himself, but his sacrificial blood was sufficient to reconcile all things unto himself.
Whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.
To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. 2 Corinthians 5:19
And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven. Colossians 1:20
Food for Thought.
Just as the angels are immortal, so too is the spirit of man.
But none are eternal, as God is eternal, for each had a beginning.
Ecclesiastes 12:7 makes the clear and unambiguous statement that whilst the body returns to the dust, the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.
Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.
Even though Adam received his spirit and the breath of life from God to become a living soul, his physical host body was made from pre-existing material.
And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. Genesis 2:7
It’s estimated that the number of atoms in the average adult human body is 7 followed by a staggering 27 zeros!
Another way of saying this is
“seven billion billion”
According to Dalton’s Atomic Theory, Atoms cannot be created (except by God) and cannot be destroyed.
The law of ‘Conservation of Energy’ states that energy is not created or destroyed, it just changes forms.
As our body develops and grows, it is not by creating new atoms, but by drawing pre-existing atoms in the form of energy, from our surroundings, from the food which we eat, to the very air that we breathe.
When we die, our physical body returns to the dust, but just like the human spirit, the atoms themselves cannot be destroyed.
Maybe you and I are 40-50 years old, but the atoms of which we consist, are infinitesimally older, because they were created by God in the beginning.
The very notion that we consist of atoms which originated perhaps hundreds of thousands of years ago, is hard to get one’s head around, but it’s apparently true.
So, what of our God-given spirit?
The true person, the inner man, contained within the physical host body.
When was that created?
When did God create all things, both the visible and the invisible?
In the beginning!
There is a sense of ancientness about us, that at times, and like the briefest flash in the dark, we may be dimly aware of but tend to dismiss the notion immediately.
Who has never asked the question; who am I?
Why am I here?
Who has never pondered on that fleeting moment of Déjà vu?
The strange phenomenon of having the strong sensation that an event or experience currently being experienced has already been experienced in the past.
Is it just possible that life in this world and the death which awaits all, must be experienced, due to who we once were in a bygone age?
An age known in Scripture as ‘the world that then was’.
If we did pre-exist and have no recollection of it, could this dark world we inhabit be the land of forgetfulness?
Shall thy wonders be known in the dark?
and thy righteousness in the land of forgetfulness? Psalms 88:12
My personal understanding is as follows.
Simply put, and in a nutshell, at their creation, the children of the most high (the gods or sons of God) were perfect, but something occurred for which they were judged.
No atonement for sin was available in the previous world, and gods and angels cannot die.
To die as a man, one must be born as a man.
In this present world, God’s will is that no man born of water should perish, and all have the opportunity to seek after the Saviour, repent, and believe in the only name given under heaven by which man can be saved, and become born again, or born of the Spirit of God.
God sent his only begotten Son to die for sin committed in THIS world alone.
The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. John 1:29
To those who find and receive him, Jesus gives the power to become sons of God.
Is the Father waiting expectantly for his prodigal sons to return home?
Are we returning to a Father we have previously known and loved?
Methinks we are not going to a new country, where we have never been before.
We return like a traveler, back from a foreign country to be with the Father, in the home and the place where we belong.
Is Jesus restoring the fallen sons of God, to the original and perfect state?
For the moment we can only ponder and wonder about such things, but the time will come when we will know for certain.
For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. 1 Corinthians 13:12
