The world, aeon, or the age in which we live, is shrouded by an intricate web of deceit, one which can never be fully unraveled by man, and it is not my intention to try and do so.

Rather, to encourage the reader not to be satisfied with superficial answers, for the word of God, can withstand the most thorough of investigations, and God’s Word and God’s world, will never contradict one another.

Although we tend to use the terms ”the earth” and ”the world” interchangeably, this is not so with the King James Bible.

They are two entirely different words, with two entirely different meanings, and one is never used as a substitute for the other, nor vice versa.

The earth always refers to the:

  • stationary
  • relatively flat
  • circular plane

that we live ON.

Whereas the world is always a time-related word, which generally refers to the inhabitants, along with the environment and the social system, of the age that we live IN.

But it can also refer to:

‘And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.” Matthew 12:32

or even to the previous aeon, known as:

Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: 2 Peter 3:6

Who shall not receive manifold more in this present time, and in the world to come life everlasting. Luke 18:30

Throughout the Bible, the emphasis is upon the world of mankind, those who dwell upon the earth, rather than the earth itself.

The difference however between the earth and the world, becomes far more apparent in the New Testament.

Because God so loved the world, he gave his only begotten Son, and via the portal of a virgin womb, a child with no human father entered this world as Christ the Lord.

For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. Luke 2:11

The light of the world.

As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world. John 9:5

A Saviour, foreordained before the world had even begun, to take away the sin of the world.

Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you, 1 Peter 1:20

Jesus defeated the god of this world yet claimed himself to be not of this world.

I could go on, but I’m sure you get my drift.

This failure to differentiate between the creation of the earth and the foundation (conception) of the world, has caused some creation ministries to teach that the earth itself is only 6,000 years old.

This is not the case, but rather a teaching based upon a misunderstanding of certain terms used in Scripture.

It is the world or age we inhabit which is a little under 6,000 years old.

For this reason, the creation of the earth, and the foundation of the world mean two entirely things.

Two entirely different events in fact, and each separated by an untold period of time.

Yet once again this Biblical truth is rarely, if ever, taught in church.

It is a truth gleaned from studying the Bible, and reasoning from the Scriptures.

Foundation of the World

The word ”foundation” appears 27 times in the New Testament, 10 of which are used in the term, ”foundation of the world”.

The Greek word used in the New Testament for a literal solid foundation is themelioo as seen in:

‘He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock’. Luke 6:48

[…….] Hemelioo means a literal solid foundation, whereas the meaning of the Greek word katabole is a deposition, or figuratively a conception, and is translated elsewhere in reference to Abram’s wife Sara, as ”to conceive seed”.

Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised. Hebrews 11:11

On each of the further 10 occasions where katabole is translated from the Greek text it is always found in the term, ‘Foundation of the World’.

The literal meaning of which would be,

”the conception of the present world, aeon or age”

So as can be seen, although katabole and themelioo can both be translated as ‘foundation’ each has an entirely different meaning.

Hence, because the words ‘earth’ and ‘world’ also have two different meanings, the creation of the earth and the foundation of the world are two entirely different events.

Along with the heavens, the earth was created by God, in the beginning, whereas the foundation of this world, aeon, or age, occurred a little over 6,000 years ago, with the creation of Adam, or modern-day man, made in the image and likeness of God.

In the Book of Hebrews, we read that God made the worlds:

Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; Hebrews 1:2

and how by the word of God, the worlds were framed.

Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. Hebrews 11:3

It’s very true that all things, both in the heaven and the earth, both the seen and the unseen, were created by God.

For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers:

all things were created by him, and for him:
 Colossians 1:16

The term God ‘Framed the Worlds’ however, does not mean that he created the celestial orbs.

Worlds is translated from the Greek aion, and Strongs New Testament Greek Dictionary defines Aion as an Age (past, present or future).

The Greek word translated as ‘framed’ is Katartizo, which means to repair or adjust, to fit, frame, mend or restore.

From a literal interpretation, we can now correctly understand that the worlds, or Ages, were Repaired or Restored by the Word of God.

Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. Hebrews 11:3

The point being, the Bible records three individual aeons or worlds, each one succeeding the other.

The previous world utterly perished.

This present world will end dramatically when the heavens dissolve and the elements melt.

But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,

Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?
 2 Peter 3:10-12

The world to come to be inherited by those who receive eternal life.

One way of understanding the ‘world’ which I’ve personally found to be helpful, is to imagine it as an incredibly long and permanently sealed cylinder, with one single entry point at one end, and one single exit point at the other.

With no say in the matter, a series of physical contractions literally force each of us into the cylinder via the portal of the womb.

When mother’s waters break, it ensures that all who arrive in the world do so born of water, and although born innocent, all are destined to sin and to die.

Nekrogoblikon – Going to Die [OFFICIAL SING-ALONG VIDEO]

Any who rely on inherited religious tradition and claim we ‘choose’ to sin have missed the point.

All men have an appointment with death, for none are righteous, all have sinned, and the soul that sins shall die.

The soul that sinneth, it shall die.

The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.
 Ezekiel 18:20

We all knowingly do wrong at times, but is sin really a personal choice?

Or is it a person’s destiny?

An estimated 121 Billion souls have lived in this world since Adam, and 121 Billion have, or will die.

Not sure about you, but to sin and die sounds pretty much like man’s destiny to me.

The big question is why?

Man cannot change his own destiny.

But Jesus who takes away the sin of the world, and defeated death on man’s behalf, certainly can.

For men of one blood and all nations, are here in this ‘cylinder’ as a result of a previous judgement.

[[A Psalm of Asaph.]] God standeth in the congregation of the mighty; he judgeth among the gods.

How long will ye judge unjustly, and accept the persons of the wicked?

Selah.

Defend the poor and fatherless:

do justice to the afflicted and needy.

Deliver the poor and needy:

rid
them out of the hand of the wicked.

They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness:

all the foundations of the earth are out of course.

I have said, Ye
are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.

But ye shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes.

Arise, O God, judge the earth:

for thou shalt inherit all nations.
 Psalm 82:1-7

Yet men of one blood and all nations enter this world with a God-given birthright and purpose. Namely, to seek after and to find the Lord.

That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us: Acts 17:27

Jesus Christ died for the sins of this world alone.

Not for the sins of ‘the world that then was’, nor those in the world to come.

All are subject to death even within the womb, hence already short of God’s glory.

For he is Life and life Everlasting.

No man by natural birth (of water) is born as ‘a son of God,’ nor is he born into the ‘kingdom of God’.

We are born flesh and blood, and as such, cannot inherit the kingdom of God.

Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. 1 Corinthians 15:50

All born of water are ‘sons of men’ and arrive in the image and likeness of a ‘fallen’ human father.

And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, after his image; and called his name Seth: Genesis 5:3

While Jesus ‘lights’ every man born into the world:

That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. John 1:9

all are delivered into a kingdom and held captive by the power of darkness:

Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: Colossians 1:13

In a spiritual sense none are born as a child of the day but born as a child of the night:

Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day:

we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
 1 Thessalonians 5:5

Though it may seem rather harsh, all are born subject to the god of this world who holds the power of death.

In other words, this world or age that we inhabit could be described as a terminal prison, a death-camp, and humanity are its prisoners.

AGGRESSOR – Escape from the Prison Planet (Clutch cover; with lyrics)

Although constantly faced with choices, we have no other choice but to be carried by time as we pass through the cylinder, until finally we arrive at the exit.

With no say in the matter, all leave the cylinder via the portal of death, beyond which lies the judgement.

And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: Hebrews 9:27

Regardless of:

  • social status
  • race
  • religion

all men are united in one thing.

All will die for all have sinned, and all come short of God’s Glory.

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Romans 3:23

Ever wondered why Jesus insisted

“Ye MUST be born again?”

Not of water (the womb) and delivered IN to the world once more, but be born of the Spirit of God, and delivered OUT of the world.

Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. John 3:5

Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. John 3:7

No man by supernatural birth (‘Born of the Spirit’) is delivered out of this world as a son of man or a child of the night, but as a son of God, and a child of the light.

Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day:

we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
 1 Thessalonians 5:5

Nekrogoblikon – Darkness [OFFICIAL VIDEO]

No longer subject to the god of this world, the power of darkness and death, but to God the Father of Lights, who is life and life everlasting.

Our mortal body will still age and die of course, but our spirit remains secure in Jesus, and an immortal and glorious resurrection body awaits us.

In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump:

for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
 1 Corinthians 15:52

The irony is, none can ‘choose’ to be born again, any more than we chose to be born in the first place.

But we do have the freedom to seek after the Truth, and to believe that Jesus Christ:

  • died for our sins
  • that he was buried
  • and rose back to life on the third day

according to the scriptures.

For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
 1 Corinthians 15:3-4

And to repent.

Halocene – Repent (Official Video)

In fact, since the time when Jesus fulfilled ALL righteousness, the only commandment that God has for all of mankind, is to repent.

And having done so, God’s only commandment for mankind is to believe.

The rest is down to God, for the moment a man truly repents and believes with both heart and mind, the truth of the gospel, he is instantaneously born of the Spirit and empowered by Jesus Christ to become a son of God.

For try as he might, no man can attain the degree of righteousness, required by our most holy God.

But that which is impossible for man to achieve, is possible for God.

For the righteousness of God is by faith of [in] Jesus Christ.

Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe:

for there is no difference:
 Romans 3:22

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16

For he hath made [Jesus] to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. 2 Corinthians 5:21

But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness. Romans 9:31

And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent: Acts 17:30

For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments:

and his commandments are not grievous.
 1 John 5:3

And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. 1 John 3:23

But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

Yet this wonderful news is only made possible, because God had ordained, and chosen us in Christ, before he had even created mankind, or prior to the foundation of the world. John 1:12

According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: Ephesians 1:4

Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you, 1 Peter 1:20
