Physicist Dr John Brandenburg has a new, stunning theory for why we can’t see life on Mars.
It was wiped out by a nuclear war.
The plasma physicist believes that the Cydonians and Utopians – two Martian civilizations he made up – were completely destroyed by an as yet, unidentified alien race.
Brandenburg believes that the evidence lies in the composition of Martial soil, which he suggests has the coloration and composition consistent with fallout from a series of “mixed fusion-fission explosions.”
Scientists have argued that while he’s, technically, not wrong about the soil thing, the discovery of high concentrations of Xenon-129 (129Xe) in the atmosphere should not be surprising as it’s a commonly found substance.
Brandenburg will not be convinced, though.
He says his theory is based on hard evidence – using the photographs of the Curiosity rover as proof that we’ve already seen ancient archaeological sites, and the remnants of an ancient civilization.
He’ll be publishing his full set of findings (Evidence of a Massive Thermonuclear Explosion on Mars in the Past – The Cydonian Hypothesis, and Fermi’s Paradox) in next month’s Journal of Cosmology and Astroparticle Physics.
Physicist Claims Life on Mars Eradicated by… Alien Nuclear Attack
by Carrie Weisman on November 26, 2014
Dr. John Brandenburg believes that ancient life on Mars was eradicated by an alien nuclear attack.
Brandenburg, a plasma physicist and expert in propulsion technologies, believes that Earth will one day experience a similar attack.
In his paper, titled “Evidence of a Massive Thermonuclear Explosion on Mars in the Past, The Cydonian Hypothesis and Fermi’s Paradox,” Brandenburg asserts that the interstellar community will meet Earth’s young, noisy civilization with hostility in the future.
Brandenburg argues that it was for this reason civilization on Mars was wiped out.
In his paper, Brandenburg outlines apparent evidence that nuclear explosions happened on Mars in two different sites of early life:
the Cydonians and the Tuopians.
He says both sites were erased by nuclear bombs launched by highly advanced aliens.
He says the red color of the surface of Mars proves that nuclear explosions occurred on its surface.
The International Business Times, A.U. edition reports that NASA’s Mars Odyssey spacecraft was able to detect high concentrations of Xenon-129 in the Martian atmosphere, similar to the amounts found following certain nuclear incidents on Earth, including the 1986 Chernobyl disaster.

Brandenburg writes,
“Given the large amount of nuclear isotopes in Mars atmosphere resembling those from hydrogen bomb tests on Earth, Mars may present an example of civilization wiped out by a nuclear attack from space,” Brandenburg wrote in his paper.
He concluded,
“Providentially, we are forewarned of this possible aspect of the cosmos.
The author therefore advocates that a human mission to Mars is mounted immediately to maximize knowledge of what occurred.”
While some scientists agreed that nuclear explosions did destroy life on Mars, they do not agree with Brandenburg’s assertion that they were launched by aliens.
Dr. David Beaty, a science manager at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory insists that a gradual and natural nuclear reaction is what eradicated life on Mars.
