As It Was in the Days of Noah

The Truth is not so profitable as adding brick and mortar to the Wall of False Prophecy.

Facts can be told in a few paragraphs and the evidence shown with few exhibits, but very profitable volumes can be constructed of conjecture, and irresistible imaginations may be invented and sold as fiction or truth to a world that is easily deceived.

Nephilim Truth

I had recently received this question in response to some comments I made on the Nephilim Theory:

Nicklas, …you said … about the Nephilim, that angels having those kinds of relations with women contradicts some things Jesus said.

My question is that Genesis 6:2 and 6:4 when read plainly, seem support the “hybrid theory”, so is there something I’m not understanding here?

I’ve subscribed and have been listening for a few months now and love hearing all the things you have to say, so please any comments at all would be much appreciated.

Dan, yes, those verses taken out of context do seem to support the hybrid theory only after the presumption has been accepted that the ‘sons of god’ are demons or fallen angels.

There is however nothing express or explicit in the text or in the entire bible to support that presumption.

First of all, when we read the opening seven verses of Genesis chapter six, we must determine what the subject of the text is:

“And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.”

The subject:

God is explaining the reason for the Flood judgment.

If it is presumed that ‘the sons of god’ in the text are demons or fallen angels, then we must conclude that God is judging mankind for what those demons have done.

Would God judge Mankind for what demons have done?

This violates everything the Bible teaches us about our heavenly Father’s character.

Without this conjecture there are no hybrids involved in God’s announcement of the Flood judgment in the context.

The first question we must determine is, who does the bible say that the “sons of god” are?

There are only eleven verses in the entire Bible where the phrase is used.

And I have to admit that the ‘sons of god’ may possibly refer to several beings created by God including:

angels
demons
men

even Satan, and finally those individuals regenerated in the Blood of the Messiah by faith, yes even us.

But the majority of those occurrences are definitively references to men.

Therefore, we must always look at the context, without presupposition, to determine who the ‘sons of god’ are in each separate instance.

In other words, it must be expressed in the context of each occurrence.

The only qualifying antecedent to the ‘sons of God’ in chapter six is “men” who began to multiply on the face of the earth… and neither is the “sons of god” a qualifying antecedent to anything other than men.

Only by rejecting the plain text of the Bible and turning to extra biblical writings as an authority do we come to the alternate but popular conclusion.

This is akin in prophecy as turning to new age authors to understand biblical doctrine and practice.

The only word in the subject text from which some infer the popular hybrid conjecture is the word that is translated “giants” from the Hebrew:

H5303, from which we derive the word “Nephilim”.

There is only one other place in the Bible where this word is used, and there it is simply used in reference to men who are tall in stature, and that after the Flood.

Giants and tyrants can also be synonymous for example, Goliath was a giant who used his great stature to bully others, he was a tyrant.

So, whether the giants in the subject text were actually great in stature or only tyrants or both remains inconclusive.

But it is not express nor explicit in the text that these giants were hybrid demon-humans.

At this point many want to turn to the opinion of ancient Rabbi’s and other extra Biblical sources, to which I answer, if men can be deceived today, they were certainly subject to deception in times past.

So let us first thoroughly exhaust the Word of God before we consider investigating extra biblical textual matter, perhaps we need look no further.

The next hypothesis we must investigate is the question of whether demons or fallen angels can procreate with women?

What does the Bible say?

In the beginning of Genesis, we find this phrase repeated throughout the creation account, “after his kind”, regarding the self-replicating plants and all of the “living creatures” which procreate.

So here we have a witness that God established some reproductive rules or natural law for His creation.

Does the witness of creation itself verify this?

While there seems to be a few exceptions (such as the jackass) even they would be consistent enough to be regarded as within this law established by our Creator.

If this established law were not in place, we could reasonably expect the earth to be literally swimming in a genetic soup at this point in history.

But we are not!

Are there any instances that we can examine today where women have procreated with other animals?

No.

If it were true, it would absolutely be a common place occurrence by now, it would be in your local news, perhaps so prevalent as to not even be newsworthy.

But this is not the reality.

If women cannot procreate with the other living creatures of the earth, is it any more reasonable to believe that women can procreate with beings from the spiritual plane of angels and demons?

What does the Word have to say about that?

The Bible indicates that all angels, demons, and other created beings on the spiritual plane are individually created by God and do not procreate.

Jesus himself verifies this explicitly at Mat 22:29-30 Jesus answered and said unto them,

Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.

For in the resurrection, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.

If the angels procreated sexually in heaven, would they do this in fornication or marriage?

Seems to me that angelic orgies would not be in keeping with our Heavenly Father’s character.

Because they do not marry, we can safely conclude that angels do not sexually procreate with each other at all nor could they conjugate with the “daughters of men” in any way.

Therefore, the alleged fallen angels of the popular Nephilim theory would need a creative power only attributed to God’s Holy Spirit when he created the seed of our Messiah in the womb of Mary the young virgin.

Nowhere does the Word endow angels with this type of creation power.

At this point many would attempt to assert the science of cloning and genetic engineering into the debate, but these do not directly address the biblical and historical elements of this discussion.

I’ll leave those points to the scientists, conspiracy theorists and science fiction enthusiasts.

Conclusion:

Because of these facts, the scriptural and natural evidence available, I have no choice but to conclude that the Giants of scripture, the Nephilim, where only men who were great in stature or renowned as powerful tyrants or both, but they certainly were not physically procreated demon/human hybrids.

The scripture simply does not support this type of imagination!

So, when Jesus said:

“But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. Mat 24:37-39 KJV

he was not referring to some nightmarish demon/human hybrid secret breeding project or science fiction zombie apocalypse invasion.

The Days of Noah?

Genesis chapter six is a record of the state of mankind on the earth about the year 1556 from the creation when Noah was 500 years old:

Men began to multiply on the face of the earth.
They took them wives of all which they chose.
There were giants… , men of renown.
The wickedness of man was great.
The earth was filled with violence.
Noah walked with God.
Judgment is decreed.

It was because of the pre-flood longevity of mankind that the birth to death ratio was not what it is today.

The population would have increased exponentially so that there were many densely populated areas as there are now.

The Creator addressed this issue,

And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years. Gen 6:3

setting a limit of 120 years for the life of man, which is by our experience about the limit that may be reached by very few even today.

Violence would have been such that many would experience peril as a normal expectation of life.

Tyrants would rule through gangs, private militia and brute force much like that in many unstable or war-torn regions of the world today.

Evidence the additional decree of the capital punishment statute immediately after the flood, …at the hand of every man’s brother will I require the life of man.

Whoso sheddeth man’s blood, by man shall his blood be shed:

for in the image of God made he man. Gen 9:5-6

Jesus adds:

“they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.”

This confirms that the following description was as applicable to the days of Noah as it is of the days in which we live:

This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.

For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. 2Ti 3:1-5

The fact being evident that the tyrants of today are certainly not physical giants, and I digress, neither has anyone proven the existence of hybrid or lizard people.

Perhaps rather than allowing our expectations to be fueled by fiction based upon the imaginations of popular prophecy authors and engaging talk show guests we should look around at the real world for a clue of what the days of Noah really looked like.

If what we see actually matches up with what we read in the Bible record, then we can determine that we are in reality living in the final days.

Consequently, if the sons of god excludes demon/human hybrids then it may be more reasonable to interpret the text:

when,

“the sons of god… took them wives of all which they chose”

they must have been men who were disobedient to parents (another description of men in the last days), that they choose their own wives without godly approval, much as is the practice today.

I believe that this is a reference to the idolatry of beauty and the beginning perhaps of the goddess type worship of the physical form.

The world today is plagued with the same idolatry as in Noah’s day which resulted in the corruption of all flesh and brought about the flood judgment.

What amazes me is just how quickly we see this corruption enveloping the nation, even the entire world as this age comes to a close.

In the nation where I live today this corruption has been normalized through:

public school sex education
popular television
movies

and song.

The idolatry of Rome-ance has raised the love between, first man and woman, now add that between homosexuals and lesbians, above the commandment to love the Lord thy God and walk in His ways.

It is also unmistakably apparent that the U.S. government is becoming more tyrannical as the days pass.

As America declines and perhaps experiences natural as well as manmade disaster including potential military or terrorist attack, even invasion or civil unrest, the deteriorating nation will become more attuned to the future depicted by TV series such as Jericho or NBC’s Revolution.

The prospect of America becoming filled with segmented violence as many other parts of the world already have or are experiencing is a possibility which must be accepted by any sober Christian.

Despite the dire prospects and evident decline of America, many will be eating and drinking and giving in marriage until the very end when sudden destruction will come upon them and take them totally unaware, every warning of the prophets foolishly unheeded.
