There was an Antarctica-streaming incident in early 2026 involving streamer “Captain Crack Sparrow” / wvagabond and a personal Starlink terminal.
But the available report says ship staff confiscated the unauthorized satellite terminal under vessel/security policy, after he had already been traveling and livestreaming. The ship captain then terminated his onboard internet access following the confrontation. That is materially different from “Antarctic military authorities confiscate explorers’ evidence and send them home.” (Spilled)
I found no reliable evidence substantiating the stronger “send you home for discovering something” claim.
There was also a separate viral 2026 video falsely advertised as an Antarctica “ice wall” livestream. AFP traced the actual footage and itinerary to Patagonia, not Antarctica. (AFP Fact Check)
That is a useful warning for both sides: verify where footage was actually recorded before building cosmology around it.
“Australia-to-South-America flights get cancelled or forced to stop”
Verdict: FALSE AS A GENERAL CLAIM.

6. The psychology of the thread
This must be handled carefully. We cannot inspect an anonymous poster and diagnose “Dunning-Kruger,” paranoia, narcissism, schizophrenia, etc. That would be irresponsible.
But we can examine visible reasoning patterns.
A 2023 exploratory study specifically examining Flat-Earth belief surveyed 1,252 people in Spain and found that the combination of lower science literacy and greater confidence in one’s scientific understanding was strongly associated with Flat-Earth belief; importantly, the authors said neither factor alone was determinative. Other conspiracy-belief research has similarly found relationships among overconfidence, objective reasoning performance and conspiracy endorsement—but these are population-level associations, not diagnoses of the people in this thread. (Frontiers)
Several mechanisms are plainly visible here.
Self-sealing reasoning
Evidence against the theory produces “glowie,” “psyop,” “shill,” or “they got to you.”
That creates this structure:
No opposition → theory wins.
Opposition → conspiracy is fighting us → theory wins.
Insider agrees → confession → theory wins.
Former believer disagrees → compromised/shill → theory wins.
A hypothesis that cannot lose under any possible observation has ceased functioning as a normal empirical hypothesis.

Asymmetric skepticism

That is not radical skepticism.
It is selective credulity.
Consistent skepticism applies the same evidentiary burden to one’s favored explanation.
Anomaly hunting
A person encounters something he cannot immediately explain:
- horizon radio,
- atmospheric pressure,
- apparent stillness,
- Antarctic regulation.
Instead of asking, “What established model predicts this?”, the anomaly becomes:
“Aha—therefore the whole conventional model is false.”
But disproving proposition A would still not automatically establish Flat Earth, Hollow Earth, endless Earth or Antarctic elite civilization B.
Moving between incompatible models
Within one thread we encounter:
- finite Flat Earth with Antarctic rim,

Hostile status competition
The globe side repeatedly uses variations of “retard”; the conspiracy side uses racial slurs, “glowie,” satanic accusations and “asleep” rhetoric. (4chan)
This encourages people to defend social status rather than investigate propositions.
And that brings us directly to Scripture.
7. Scripture correction: what the KJV does and does not teach
A. The biblical method is examination—not credulity and not reflexive contrarianism
1 Thessalonians 5:21:
“Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.”
That does not mean “believe authorities.”
It also does not mean “reject authorities.”
It means test.
Proverbs 18:13 gives another guardrail:
“He that answereth a matter before he heareth it, it is folly and shame unto him.”
And Proverbs 18:17:
“He that is first in his own cause seemeth just; but his neighbour cometh and searcheth him.”
That is remarkably applicable here.
The first persuasive meme seemeth just.
Then somebody reads the actual Antarctic Treaty.
Then the proposition has to survive examination.
Biblical discernment therefore does not resemble indiscriminate conspiracy consumption.
8. “Science falsely so called” does not mean “modern science is satanic”
1 Timothy 6:20 KJV:
“O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called:”
This verse deserves especially careful handling because Flat-Earth apologetics often quote five English words as if Paul were condemning modern physics.
The underlying Greek noun is γνῶσις — gnōsis, meaning knowledge. English translations commonly render Paul’s expression as “knowledge falsely so called.” (Bible Hub)
The KJV’s older English use of science can mean knowledge.
Paul was not writing:
“Beware twenty-first-century astronomy, geodesy and the scientific method.”
That concept is simply not in the verse.
The thing condemned is falsely named knowledge.
Ironically, therefore, the verse tells us to distinguish real knowledge from pretended knowledge—the very thing proper fact-checking attempts to do.
It cannot legitimately be converted into:
Scientific claim I dislike → “science falsely so called.”
The claim first has to be shown false.
9. “The world … cannot be moved” — Psalm 93:1
This is another frequent Flat-Earth/geocentric proof text.
The KJV says:
“the world also is stablished, that it cannot be moved.”
But compare Scripture with Scripture.
Psalm 16:8 says of David:
“because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.”
Was David claiming his body had zero physical velocity?
Obviously not.
Psalm 15:5 similarly says the righteous man:
“shall never be moved.”
Psalm 46:5 says of the city of God:
“she shall not be moved.”
Yet Psalm 99:1 can say:
“let the earth be moved.”
The language therefore concerns stability, security, establishment and overthrow, depending on context—not a technical statement assigning zero angular velocity to planet Earth.
Psalm 93’s subject is the LORD’s kingship and the stability of the created order:
“The LORD reigneth, he is clothed with majesty…”
Reading “cannot be moved” as a modern mechanics equation ignores the Psalm’s genre, immediate subject and biblical use of the same idiom.
10. Genesis 1 and the firmament
Genesis unquestionably says:
“And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters…”
and:
“And God called the firmament Heaven.”
That is the biblical text.
What it does not say is:
- Antarctica is the edge of the world;
- Antarctica forms a circular ice wall around all habitable lands;
- nobody can cross it;
- hidden continents lie beyond it;
- Earth is an infinite plane;
- the South Pole contains a Hollow-Earth entrance.
Those propositions are additions to the text.

But neither should it be sold as a complete mathematical proof of an oblate spheroid.
Geodesy supplies the geodesy.
Isaiah supplies Isaiah’s theological proclamation.
12. Joshua 10 — “Sun, stand thou still”
Joshua 10:12–13 says:
“Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon.”
and:
“And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed…”
We should neither erase this language nor make it carry more than the passage says.
The text describes an extraordinary divine intervention during Israel’s battle.
It does not append a theory of celestial reference frames explaining whether the miracle physically altered Earth rotation, apparent solar motion, both, or accomplished the prolonged daylight by some other miraculous means.
Furthermore, ordinary speech still says “sunrise” and “sunset” today. Ecclesiastes itself says:
“The sun also ariseth, and the sun goeth down…”
Phenomenological language describes the world as observed without necessarily defining its underlying mechanics.
Christians therefore do not need to rewrite Joshua.
But neither should we transform Joshua into a permanent geocentric mechanics textbook.
13. Job 26:7 — “hangeth the earth upon nothing”
Job says:
“He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing.”
Some globe apologists triumphantly call this “modern astronomy in the Bible.”
Again, caution.
It is beautiful and striking language, but its primary purpose is celebrating God’s incomprehensible power.
We need not turn every poetic statement into a scientific prediction merely because it happens to sound congenial to contemporary cosmology.
The Flat-Earth error and the overeager anti-Flat-Earth error share the same hermeneutical temptation: make poetic theological texts answer modern technical questions they were not addressing.
14. The thread’s speech fails a much clearer biblical test
This is one place where Scripture speaks with considerably less ambiguity.
James 3:9–10:
“Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God.”
“Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.”
And James contrasts worldly strife with:

16. The strongest way to investigate this without trusting NASA
If someone genuinely wants to test the globe rather than merely defend or attack an identity, I would center the investigation on independent, reproducible predictions:
- terrestrial geodetic surveying and reciprocal observations over long baselines;
- horizon angular dip versus observer altitude;
- Foucault-pendulum precession versus latitude;
- celestial-pole elevation versus observer latitude;
- simultaneous northern/equatorial/southern star trails;
- measured Earth orientation with independent VLBI stations;

- lunar-eclipse geometry;
- long-distance radio predictions including diffraction/refraction/ducting;
- seismic-wave arrival times through the interior;
